Noviembre-Nocturno This song reminds me the importance of living not just for ourselves but for the others, we are not only the meat and blood of despair, we are memories of the hard beat of the world in our stories

darrenscanlon Such a poignant & deeply haunting piece, Elayna. Touches one somewhere dark and deep...

Thank you very much for sharing, with us all, it will surely make you stronger & may even help others...

I am following your adventures with Riley, (catching up very quickly...Ep. 124), & am enjoying them immensely.

Give that young vagabond, Riley, a gentle dig in the ribs & love your sweet child every minute of every day.

Keep sailing & keep smiling,
Darren Scanlon

about

This is an original of mine. It tells a story from my childhood. Rest in peace dad.

lyrics

We left my daddy when

he held a rifle to her head
I wish this was a metaphor, for something beautiful

A Tuesday afternoon she grabbed us kids from primary school
and threw us in the car, together we drive far

He said if she ever left him
he'd put a bullet through her head
and she were scared, and so innocent

On that Tuesday afternoon

I left the things I loved in my room

never to be seen again

Whisky in his coffee that's not all that I have left
Whisky is his coffee but he taught me how to swim
Whisky in his coffee that's not all that I have left

Whisky in his coffee and it got the best of him

For that time we couldn't see
my brothers and me playing happily

so young, and naive

Until the yelling and the screams

we could hear from across the creek

then the absence in his eyes, would be his goodbye

We left my daddy when
he held that rifle to her head
my brothers stood tall, I watched her tears fall

On that Tuesday afternoon

we left the things we loved in our rooms
never to be seen again

Whisky in his coffee that's not all that I have left
Whisky is his coffee but he taught me how to swim
Whisky in his coffee that's not all that I have left

Whisky in his coffee and it got the best of him

I'm sorry mum for what he did

You did the best you could for us kids
And so the drink it took his life
Before he got to kill his wife

Whisky in his coffee that's not all that I have left
Whisky is his coffee but he taught me how to swim
Whisky in his coffee that's not all that I have left

Whisky in his coffee and it got the best of him

It broke his heart and he broke ours
But we still love you somehow.
